Kon Tum: Organizing the 1st Cultural, Sports and Tourism Festival of Ethnic Groups in the Central Highlands

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the first Cultural, Sports and Tourism Festival of the Central Highlands ethnic groups in 2021 is expected to take place in Kon Tum city (Kon Tum province) for 3 days, from May 28 to 30, 2021.

Kon Tum: Organizing the 1st Cultural, Sports and Tourism Festival of Ethnic Groups in the Central Highlands

With the theme "Preserving and promoting traditional cultural values ​​of the ethnic communities in the Central Highlands in the period of integration and development of the country", the 1st Cultural, Sports and Tourism Festival of the ethnic groups in the Central Highlands in 2021 was held to honor the good traditional cultural values ​​of the ethnic groups in the Central Highlands in the unified and diverse culture of the community of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam; implementing Conclusion No. 76-KL/TW dated June 4, 2020 of the Politburo on continuing to build and develop Vietnamese culture and people, meeting the requirements of sustainable development of the country. The first Cultural, Sports and Tourism Festival of the Central Highlands ethnic groups in 2021 will be organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the People's Committee of Kon Tum province in coordination with central and local ministries, departments and branches, with the participation of 7 provinces: Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Lam Dong and expanded to 2 more provinces: Quang Nam, Binh Phuoc.

The festival also aims to promote and stimulate tourism; create a cultural space for artisans, actors, and mass athletes to meet, exchange, share experiences, raise awareness and consciousness in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values ​​of the Central Highlands ethnic communities in the period of integration and development of the country. This is also an opportunity to promote to domestic and foreign businesses and tourists the potential and advantages of the Central Highlands provinces, attract investment in the tourism sector, create momentum to promote investment, accelerate the process of building key tourist areas of the provinces...

The festival is organized to honor and promote good traditional cultural values, preserve and promote the traditional cultural identity of the ethnic groups in the Central Highlands in the unified and diverse culture of the community of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam, contributing to caring for the material and spiritual life of the people. This is an opportunity for over 1,200 artisans, actors, and mass athletes to meet, exchange experiences and perform traditional cultural identities of their people, while raising awareness and consciousness in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic minority communities in the Central Highlands provinces during the period of national integration and development, contributing to building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.

Within the framework of the Festival, many activities will take place such as: Performance and introduction of typical culinary culture imbued with national identity in each locality; Performance and introduction of festival excerpts, traditional cultural rituals and gong performances, generalizing the cultural and folk beliefs of each ethnic group, expressing national cultural identity, promoting positive elements and eliminating negative, backward elements that are no longer suitable for current cultural life; performance of folk songs, folk dances, folk music; solo and ensemble performances of musical instruments imbued with traditional cultural identity of the locality and ethnic groups in the Central Highlands; Sports activities and traditional ethnic games of pushing sticks, tug of war, slingshot shooting, climbing greased poles and sack jumping; Exhibition of "Cultural characteristics of ethnic groups in the Central Highlands"; Introduction and exhibition of cultural characteristics of ethnic groups in the Central Highlands through images, artifacts, costumes, ethnic musical instruments, ancient letters and books, typical ethnic cultural products; Organize a Famtrip delegation (domestic travel businesses) to survey community tourism and eco-tourism in Kon Tum province. At the same time, it is an opportunity to promote to domestic and foreign businesses and tourists the potential and advantages of the Central Highlands provinces, attract investment in the tourism sector, create momentum to promote investment, accelerate the process of building key tourist areas in the Central Highlands.

The organization of the Festival aims to promote solidarity, cultural exchange, learning, and experience exchange between ethnic groups and localities in the region; Introduce the quintessence of ethnic culture and art through the characteristics of typical cultural activities of each ethnic group and the Central Highlands culture to the people of the whole country and international friends, contributing to strengthening solidarity between ethnic groups, preserving traditional cultural identities, building and developing the Central Highlands region to become more and more beautiful. From there, it contributes to promoting, developing and constantly creating new cultural values, effectively implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party in the cause of national construction and development, creating attraction to promote economic development and tourism in the localities of the Central Highlands.

The Organizing Committee said that the localities participating in the Festival are actively preparing carefully and practicing carefully to have typical art performances with artistic values ​​of community nature, promoting the role of cultural subjects, promoting traditional cultural values ​​associated with the progressive factors of the times. In particular, the Festival will take place with the criteria of efficiency, safety, and economy, but still creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere to meet the creative and enjoyment needs of the people of Kon Tum province, the provinces of the Central Highlands and tourists participating in the Festival.

The opening ceremony of the Festival and a special art program are scheduled to take place at 8:00 p.m. on May 28. The closing ceremony and summary of the festival will take place at 8:00 p.m. on May 30.
