Developing mainly based on the existing conditions of the locality, community tourism is a type that attracts special attention from tourists. In order to exploit this strength, Kon Plong district has chosen Kon Pring village, Dak Long commune as the destination of "Community tourism village" to contribute to protecting the ecological environment and preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of the Mo Nam ethnic group, helping people to sustainably reduce poverty, increase income and stabilize their lives.
Under the Rong roof of Kon Pring community tourism village |
Having visited Mang Den Eco-tourism Area and Kon Pring Village, about 3 kilometers from Kon Plong District Center, many times, this time coming back, Tran Lam's group of friends in Kon Tum City were surprised by the new appearance of this residential area. The road from the turnoff on National Highway 24 to the village has been upgraded conveniently. The simple houses are bright and clean. The majestic and beautiful Rong House seems fresher.
The charming tour guide Thuy Trang, who was loved by many people in the past, is now confident in her position as Director of Mang Den Tourism Company Limited. Although there are still many difficulties, she has quickly started operating, not only for her own business and integration goals but also taking on the additional task assigned by the local government as a "midwife" for local ethnic minority households to initially get acquainted with community tourism.
“It is still very new, but thanks to the close attention of the People's Committee of Dak Long district and commune, Kon Pring community tourism village has been formed, a model for organizing local people to do tourism and linking the State, businesses with people for mutual development.” - Thuy Trang said.
Kon Pring village was established on the basis of adjusting the administrative boundaries and population of Mang Canh commune (old) on a total natural area of 700 hectares, 66 households with 220 people, mainly Mo Nam ethnic people living mainly on wet rice cultivation and slash-and-burn farming.
Gia A Roi, one of the prestigious village elders, is proud that, after many ups and downs, the villagers still maintain the beauty of traditional culture. “The most beautiful, the best, the most joyful are the festivals. This new Rong house celebration, this new rice celebration, this buffalo barn building and repairing ceremony... The whole village is not missing anyone. "Playing gongs and dancing xoang all day and night without getting tired or bored..." - Old A Roi confided.
Gong and Xoang performance welcomes visitors to Kon Pring |
Along with gongs and xoang, Kon Pring still preserves the beauty of Rong houses, stilt houses, rattan and bamboo weaving, making rice wine, cooking ethnic dishes..., and is very convenient because it is near the center of Mang Den National Eco-tourism Area and possesses a unique natural landscape, with hills, forests, rivers and streams in harmony... That is its very own attraction, the decisive factor for this residential area to be chosen as the location to build a community tourism village model of Kon Plong district.
With mobilized capital sources, in recent times, Kon Plong district has invested in building infrastructure to serve production and life associated with tourism here. Not only prioritizing the completion of the transportation network, electricity system, domestic water, school points..., the Rong house of the village has been restored according to the traditional architectural style of the Mo Nam people. To prepare for the formation of a community tourism village, Dak Long commune and Mang Den Dai Ngan Tourism Company Limited have coordinated to organize for some people to visit, learn and study the community tourism model in the Northwestern provinces and Quang Nam.
Display and introduce handicraft products of villagers |
Implementing the Kon Pring Village Community Tourism Development Project with a total budget of more than 3 billion VND, initially, the district supported Mang Den Dai Ngan Tourism Company Limited and two households with 1 billion 50 million VND to build a traditional stilt house in the form of a "homestay" to welcome guests and display and introduce the beauty of ethnic culture.
Ms. Y Lim was supported to build and put the homestay into operation, excitedly said: "I have visited several places, I see that people do tourism very systematically. I am very happy and proud because my village is still facing difficulties but visitors from near and far still come, still love and appreciate the villagers. Whatever my family has, we bring it all out to welcome guests. Bamboo rice, grilled chicken, wild vegetables, banana flowers, young bamboo shoots, jar wine...". In particular, the young and old enthusiastically play gongs, dance xoang, sing love songs, and exchange folk arts with tourists. Guests leave, guests remember, next time come back...
Promoting the existing conditions, in early November 2018, Kon Pring community tourism village officially came into operation under the management of the Village Community Tourism Management Board headed by a vice chairman of Dak Long Commune People's Committee.
In the immediate future, although we must focus on stabilizing the order, shaping the activities and branding of tourism products; the initial results of building Kon Pring community tourism village will be practical experience for Kon Plong district to complete, serving as a basis for replicating the model in the area in the coming time; contributing to the development of tourism commensurate with the orientation of becoming a key economic sector of Kon Tum province./.
