On October 25 and July 6, the Xo Dang ethnic minority village in Dak Tram commune (Dak To district) celebrated the new rice festival. This is a traditional festival of the Xo Dang ethnic minority held annually, an occasion for people to thank heaven and earth, pray for a bountiful harvest, a prosperous and happy life.

At the new rice festival, families prepare the best jars of rice wine, grilled bamboo rice and meat to contribute to the community to organize the ceremony. At the right time of the ceremony, families bring offerings to the communal house to join the village elders in the worship ceremony and invite the gods to eat the new rice, then the whole community drinks wine, dances, sings and plays gongs.
During the ceremony, the village elder reports to heaven, earth and gods about the agricultural production of the villagers and presents the offerings that the villagers have made to the gods, at the same time praying to heaven, earth and gods to help the next crop have favorable weather and wind, crops are not affected by diseases or destroyed by wild animals so that everyone can have a prosperous life.
